Inspirational Corner

Behind all creation is silence. Silence is the essential condition, the vital ingredient for all creation and all that is created. It is a power in its own right. The artist starts with a blank canvas - silence. The composer places it between and behind the notes. The very ground of your being, out of which comes all your thoughts, is silence.

The way to silence is through meditation. When you arrive in your own silence you will know true freedom and real power. Stop, take a minute,…

Could you help as a school governor?

Help us make a difference to our schools in Westminster diocese and to outcomes for young people. We need highly skilled governors who are passionate about education to take this important leadership role and who come from across the Catholic community. Catholic schools are considerably more ethnically diverse than national school figures and serve some of the most disadvantaged students in the country.  As a foundation governor you will support, challenge and celebrate our schools in providing the best possible academic, spiritual, moral and religious education to all students.

Time commitment: There are peaks and troughs throughout the school year but on average governors spend up to 10 hours a month carrying out the role. This includes attending two full governing body meetings a term, being a member of a committee and doing any preparation beforehand.

Foundation governors should be practising and committed Catholics; a priest’s reference will be taken up. Further information can be found on

We value your dedication greatly so we provide induction, training, support for governors and an annual conference. Your college and local authority will also help you to carry out this role effectively, e.g., by providing an experienced governor as your mentor.
