VACANCIES

For the past few months the City  Corporation’s Policy and Resources Committee has been looking at whether there are any barriers which might deter people from standing for election to the City Corporation’s Court of Common Council. It is keen to ensure that the membership the Court is diverse and more representative of the City. As part of the activities for achieving this the City Corporation’s webpage for Becoming a Councillor has been redeveloped to explain the work involved and, given that we are slightly different from other local authorities, it also explains the role of our councillors more fully. A link to the page is set out below:-

http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/about-the-city/elections-and-wards/Pages/becoming-a-councillor.aspx

The Committee is also keen to see the merits of becoming a councillor promoted more widely and has asked me to send this email to my contacts in order to capture a wider diverse audience of candidates.
