Liverpool Biennial is the UK’s leading festival of contemporary art. Taking over historic sites, galleries and unexpected public spaces, the Biennial has been transforming the city through art for over two decades.

In addition to presenting a biannual free city-wide event, the Biennial is underpinned by a year-round programme of research, education, residencies and commissions. Liverpool Biennial is supported by Arts Council England and Liverpool City Council, the organisation is also registered charity. You can find out more here:

We are seeking inspiring and dynamic individuals to join our strong Board of committed and proactive trustees and passionate team of staff. Like all arts organisations we have been impacted by Covid-19 and took the decision to postpone the Biennial’s 11th edition from 2020 to March 2021.

We are currently planning the launch of the Biennial, The Stomach and the Port, in two chapters, starting with a major new series of outdoor sculpture, sonic and digital artworks alongside the new Biennial Online Portal.

To align with government guidelines, the second ‘inside’ chapter will launch the full festival of exhibitions and events hosted by key venues throughout Liverpool in late Spring.

We’re specifically looking to diversify our Board and for people with an interest or experience in the below areas:

  • Digital expertise including web development, delivery and digital marketing
  • Providing artist’s perspective
  • Developing people, and the organisation, and growing our diversity
  • Sustainability and environmental concerns
  • Ensuring our relevance to local educational and residential communities
  • Professional services including law, HR, data analysis and GDPR compliance
  • Funding landscapes, philanthropy, and the complex balance between private and public sectors

The deadline for expressions of interest is 12th April 2021/
