The NBWN is a non-profit organisation dedicated to raising the status and position of black women in all walks of life.

Chair and a Non-Executive Director for the Court Bank of England – closes Tuesday 20th February

The Bank of England is the central bank of the United Kingdom. The Court of Directors is responsible for setting and monitoring the Bank’s objectives and strategy, including its financial objectives.

Applications for the role of Chair are sought from candidates who have played a significant role as either a chair or chief executive or equivalent in a major organisation in a relevant area; as a Chair or CEO of a major financial services firm, a FTSE 100 company or a substantial multinational corporation; and / or of building a successful significant enterprise.  Successful candidates should be able to provide the Bank with effective leadership; have a demonstrable track record of building and maintaining close and effective working partnerships with senior executives; have experience of corporate governance; have strong knowledge and credibility within the UK financial market; and have strong communication and influencing skills.  Experience of working at a senior level in a regulated environment and of strategic planning is desirable.

Successful candidates for the role of Non-Executive Director should have a broad background in the financial services sector; recent and relevant financial experience and be able to participate in the Bank’s Audit and Risk Committee; and have strong interpersonal and influencing skills.  Experience of reviewing organisational effectiveness and strategic organisational planning is desirable.

  • Time: Chair - 2 days per week.  Non-Executive Director – 2 to 3 days per month.
  • Remuneration: Chair - £48,000 per year.  Non-Executive Director - £15,000 per year.
