Non-Executive Board Members - Channel 4 Television Corporation - closes Sunday 29 May

Channel 4 Television Corporation (C4C) is a publicly owned, commercially funded broadcaster transmitting across the whole of the UK and available on terrestrial, satellite and cable. C4C also operates a number of other services, including the TV channels E4, More4, Film4 and 4seven and All 4, the video-on-demand service. Film4 co-produces feature films for the UK and global markets. The Corporation operates in a dynamic, fast-moving, competitive, technology-driven market. The future ownership and governance of C4C is under review. The outcome of this review may not be known during this recruitment process.

Applications are sought for four Non-Executive Members with: an interest in broadcast media; an understanding of Channel 4’s public service remit; and an awareness of the pressures and challenges facing cultural institutions such as C4C in the fast changing communications sector, having regard in particular to Public Service Broadcasting’s contribution to the creative industries and the creative culture at C4C.

Applicants for the first role should have commercial business experience gained as, for example, a CEO of an organisation of a comparable size to Channel 4.  Candidates for the second role should have a background in, or experience of, finance, for example, as a CFO of an organisation at least the same size as Channel 4 and will be expected to become the Chairman of the Risk and Audit Committee of Channel 4.  Applicants for the third role should have experience and an understanding of digital media, particularly the development and exploitation of digital technology and its use by consumers. Candidates for the fourth role should bring experience of marketing ideally from within an organisation or agency with a knowledge of television advertising.

Time: 2 days per month.

Remuneration: Appropriate remuneration.
